Which medical conditions qualify for a medical marijuana card?

Per the Colorado constitution, medical marijuana may be recommended for the following:

  • Cancer
  • Glaucoma
  • HIV or AIDS positive
  • Cachexia
  • Persistent muscle spasms;
  • Seizures;
  • Severe nausea; and
  • Severe pain

Which medical conditions are denied?

Since the Medical Marijuana Registry Program began in 2001, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has received petitions to add the following medical conditions to the list of conditions for which physicians may recommend medical marijuana. These conditions were not approved to be included in the list of debilitating medical conditions provided for in the Colorado constitution.

  • Asthma
  • Atherosclerosis
  • Bi-polar Disease
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Diabetes Mellitus, types 1 & 2
  • Diabetic Retinopathy
  • Hepatitis C
  • Hypertension
  • Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA)
  • Opioid Dependence
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Severe Anxiety and Clinical Depression
  • Tourette’s Syndrome

How much medical marijuana may I purchase per day?

A Colorado Medical Marijuana Patient may purchase up to 2 ounce (56 grams) per day.
